If you had told 26-year-old me, armed with a high school typing class and as a child, a lopped off end of a 2x4 turned into a pretend keyboard, that one day I’d be the CEO of a multi-six-figure agency that recruits admin pros and places Virtual Assistants across the country, I’d have laughed while handing you your coffee.

But here I am.

The truth is, my admin career didn’t start in an office. It started as a little girl with big imagination, playing “secretary” in her garage. Her name was Kathy Tyler—my mom's glasses on, fake typewriter in hand, hair in a bun, and appointment memo pads ready. That alter ego would become the spirit behind everything I’d eventually build.

When I started Tandem Resource Solutions as a side-hustle with a trusted coworker—our company’s recruiter who mentored me on the recruiting side—I was equal parts terrified and electrified. That blog I wrote back then—"just a secretary no more"—was me standing on the edge of a new cliff, ready to leap. Since then, it’s been a wild ride full of growth, grit, and a helluva lot of gratitude.

Growing Pains (The Real Kind)

Starting a business is cute until you're cash-strapped, emotionally exhausted, and wondering if the universe made a clerical error assigning you this dream. I’ve faced cash flow challenges, flaky subcontractors, scope-creep clients, and moments where I couldn’t see the next step. But I also learned the beauty of boundaries, the strength in delegation, and the magic of hiring the right people.

Scaling Up While Staying Real

What started as two of us working in tandem from our corporate day jobs has become an agency with an in-tandem model that supports dozens of U.S.-based administrative professionals, Virtual Assistants, Online Business Managers, and even Fractional COOs. I’ve learned to step into my CEO shoes, let go of the reins, and empower my team to do what they do best.

We’ve been blessed to partner with powerhouse clients, serve our military spouse community through the MSEP, and build a name rooted in integrity, kindness, and damn good admin support.

Confidence Is Built, Not Bought

The growth hasn’t just been in revenue. It’s been in mindset and confidence. I’m not “just an admin.” I’m a founder, a podcast host, a connector of people, a pro-age advocate, and a big believer that delegation isn’t a luxury—it’s a leadership strategy. Confidence came with experience. And yes, a few messy middle (doubting Thomas) moments too.
